Practical Pack Walks

Confidence on Both Ends of the Lead.

Transform your walk from a struggle of wills into a rhythmic partnership. Our guided pack walks utilise the outdoors as a classroom to build focus and confidence through the calm, collective rhythm of the pack. By understanding your dog’s cues and practicing social neutrality, we help you master the art of existing peacefully in the real world.

What to Expect

Experience a calm, structured, on-lead journey where we prioritise your dog’s peace of mind through generous social distancing to avoid anxiety or over-arousal. Our walks blend dedicated sniffing opportunities for natural decompression with in-the-moment coaching on focus techniques and reading body language. This isn't just a walk; it’s an opportunity to refine your communication and find true harmony, one step at a time.

Benefits of Pack Walks

Promotes Neutrality Over Excitement Dogs learn to exist calmly alongside other dogs — without the pressure of forced interaction or the heightened arousal that comes with play.

Confidence Building Nervous or reactive dogs find security in the steady forward momentum of the group. Moving together builds a quiet sense of social belonging that your dog carries with them beyond the walk.

Hands-On Training Receive real-time guidance from a qualified trainer on lead handling, reading your dog's subtle body language cues, and practical engagement techniques you can apply straight away on your daily solo walks.

A Safe Social Circle Enjoy the peace of mind that comes from walking within a group that genuinely respects personal space. You'll also find yourself among like-minded owners who understand the journey, making it a space to share experiences, swap tips, and feel less alone in the process.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • These walks are designed for almost every dog, regardless of social "skill level." Thanks to our strict two-metre boundary and focus on neutrality over interaction, they work particularly well for excitable, nervous, or reactive dogs, puppies seeking structured exposure, and handlers who want to develop their skills in a real-world setting.

  • Simply fill out the contact form letting me know which day and location works best for you. Once we've had a short phone consultation to talk through your dog's needs, you'll receive a confirmation and payment link.

  • To make sure you and your dog get the most from the session, please bring:

    • A standard lead — ideally a fixed 1.5m–2m flat lead (please avoid extendable/flexi-leads).

    • High-value treats — small, easy-to-eat rewards to encourage focus. Pastes work brilliantly too.

    • Water and a portable bowl — for our "Stationary Harmony" breaks.

    • Appropriate gear — a comfortable harness or collar, and weather-appropriate clothing and footwear for yourself.

    • Poo bags — to ensure we leave our surroundings exactly as we found them.

Please note that these walks are led by a force-free trainer. Aversive equipment (including slip leads, Haltis, and vibration collars) is not permitted.

  • Challenging behaviours aren't "bad" behaviours — they're communication. We manage them through proactive support and clear advocacy:

    • Space is our primary tool — distance is adjusted for any dog showing signs of over-arousal or reactivity.

    • Strategic positioning — nervous or reactive dogs are often placed at the back or "wing" of the group to reduce pressure.

    • In-the-moment coaching — if your dog has a difficult moment, I'll guide you through focus resets and body language shifts to help them regulate.

    • A naturally safer environment — because snout-to-snout greetings aren't permitted, the risk of conflict is significantly reduced.

Every new member has a short phone consultation before joining. If pack walks aren't quite the right fit yet, I'll recommend 1-2-1 sessions to build the foundations first.

  • Occasionally! If you're looking for off-lead play socialisation — particularly for younger dogs — reach out directly to find out whether you can join one of my daily group walks with my regular clients.
